Emily E. Gallourakis, age 17 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 16, 2015 in Grand Rapids. She was born November 1, 1997 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Jeff and Julie (Elliott) Gallourakis. Emily attended the Big Rapids Public Schools. She enjoyed playing sports; softball, basketball, volleyball and her greatest passion was hockey. Emily began playing hockey for BRAJHA at the age of four and continued through the Pee Wee level. She loved the outdoors; going to the beach, skim boarding at the beach, snowboarding and camping. Emily also had a desire to care for animals. She is survived by her parents, Jeff and Julie Gallourakis of Big Rapids; brother, Nate Gallourakis of Big Rapids; paternal grandparents, John and Ellen Gallourakis of Canadian Lakes; maternal grandparents, Carlton and Nancy Elliott of Imlay City; seven aunts and uncles, Jason Gallourakis and Edwin Beltran of Columbus, OH, Janalyn and Robert Pemberton of Imlay City, Janaye and John Shack of Imlay City and Mary Elliott of Shelby Township; six cousins, Sydney and Robbie Pemberton, Ava Shack, Joe, John and Caterina Elliott. Emily was preceded in death by her uncle, Dean Elliott. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. MONDAY, March 23, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Rebecca Morrison officiating. The family will greet friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. SATURDAY, March 21st at the funeral home. Emily will be laid to rest at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
