Emil "Tony" Marek, age 61 of Howard City, currently of Stanwood, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his home. He was born December 1, 1946 in Lakeview to Carl and Goldie (Beemer) Marek. He worked at Gibson's in Greenville until his retirement. Tony loved to trade horses and watch them race. He was an accomplished musician and a lead singer for numerous bands. Tony was also an avid deer hunter. He attended the Crossroads Worship Center in Howard City. Tony is survived by a large and loving family, his beloved wife; Dawn of Stanwood His mother; Goldie Marek of Stanwood Daughter; Aimee (Jeff) Palmer of Grand Rapids 4 sons; Kevin (Charity) Marek of Reed City, Pat (Darcie) Marek of Howard City Jeff (Summer) Marek of Howard City, Roger (Jenny) Marek of Big Rapids Step-children; Gerrit (Stephanie) Nestle of Howard City Emanuel (Amy) Nestle of Fremont 8 grandchildren, 3 Step-grandchildren 2 brothers; Carl Jr. "Butch" Marek and Tony (Barb) Marek all of Stanwood Many nieces and nephews including nephew; Chris Marek of Howard City and his aunt; Ione Marek of Big Rapids. Tony was preceded in death by his father Carl and a brother Roger. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24th at the First Baptist Church in Howard City; burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
