Elois L. Lewis, age 87 of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 17, 1926 in Hinton Township of Mecosta County, the daughter of L. G. and Leah (Spencer) Bunker. Elois married Harold S. Lewis on March 1, 1947 in East Jordan and soon after they moved to Big Rapids to make their home. She cared for her family and also worked part time. Elois was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses of Big Rapids, since her baptism in 1959. She enjoyed her ministry, sharing the bible's hope with others. Elois took her time to visit many residents at Altercare reading to them and sharing words of encouragement. She is survived by her children, Deuaine (Bobbie) Lewis of Leslie, Lorraine Lewis of Big Rapids, Daralee Rolston of Big Rapids; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Berton (Marjorie) Bunker of Grand Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Elois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold and her son Bradley, both passing in April of 2006 and a brother, Louis Deuaine Bunker. Memorial services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31st at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on 17 Mile Road, Big Rapids. Her grandson, James Inman will be officiating and the family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the services.
