Elizabeth "Joan" Treharne, age 82, on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 passed away peacefully and on to eternal glory while in her Canadian Lakes home after a long physical struggle. Living on the 12th tee at the Royal Golf Course, she was known as the "Cookie Lady" to many friends, family, and grateful golfers who received free and delicious chocolate chip cookies after "ringing the bell'. All of her friends and family craved those special times when she prepared her fabulously delicious kolache cookies or hosted her annual Groundhog Day Party. Joan Treharne was born on January 19, 1931 to James and Elizabeth Taylor and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland. She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Treharne, formerly of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed over 60 years of wonderful marriage. Joan and Dick raised 5 wonderful children, Jim (Patsy) Treharne of Kailua, HI, Barb (her husband Warren Mann) Treharne of Stafford, VA, Claudia (Joe) Hillstrom of Dimondale, Margie (her husband Craig Senkowski) Treharne of Livonia, and Rich (his wife Paula Smith) Treharne of Livonia; and have 17 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joan's older sister Carol Murphy and her parents preceded her in passing. She is also survived by her younger sister Gail Hatfield from North Olmsted, Ohio. Joan and her husband Dick lived in Canadian Lakes for over 23 years after moving there from Livonia, Michigan after Dick's retirement from General Motors. Joan and Dick loved Canadian Lakes and the many, many friends they developed over the years. She also treasured her friendships with family and friends in Cleveland and those parents in the West Point and other Military Academy social circles. Joan faithfully attended worship at Saint Michael Church in Remus, Michigan. Her Christian faith and love was genuine and evident in the many ways that she tirelessly devoted herself to family, friends, the Church, and the community.
