Elizabeth E. Thompson, age 75 of Canadian Lakes, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 22, 1936 in Detroit, the daughter of Clarence and Stella (Cox) Thorne. Elizabeth graduated from Pershing High School in 1954. On January 12, 1957 she married Richard Thompson in Detroit and together they raised their family in Redford. After Richard retired they moved to their home in Canadian Lakes. Elizabeth worked at Mecosta County Medical Center as a bookkeeper in the accounting department for 11 years. She was a member of the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood. Elizabeth enjoyed socializing and getting together with friends. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and Extensions. Elizabeth always had a positive attitude and loved giving hugs. She cherished her family, spending time with her grandchildren and the family gatherings. Elizabeth will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard; 4 children, Cathy (Pete) Esbrook of South Lyon, Cindy (Tony) Charnawskas of Westland, Rick (Carrie) Thompson of Redford and Tracey Wilson of Canadian Lakes; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law Sally Thorne of New Jersey and Dee Stevens of Westland; 6 nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her son Steven; her granddaughter Michaela and a brother Ronald Thorne.
