Elizabeth E. Maneke, who had reached the remarkable age of 100, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at her home with her beloved family at her bed side. She was a lifelong resident of Mecosta, born at home on July 30, 1920, the daughter of David and Nellie (Houck) Boroff.
Elizabeth married Forest Maneke in Remus on December 29, 1951 and together they made their home in Mecosta. She worked for Evart Products until her retirement; she was a busy wife, mother, grandmother and was active in her community.
Elizabeth was a member of the Chippewa Lake Community Church for many years. She belonged to the Mecosta VFW Post 2335 auxiliary, where she worked on the Pancake Breakfasts well into her 80s.
Elizabeth loved to cook, especially big Sunday dinners for her family, where she always baked the best bread; no one could stop by for a visit unless they left with a snack. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, playing dice and cards.
Elizabeth is survived by her five children; Carlton (Joan) Boroff of Big Rapids, Carol (Melvin) Place of Holt, Linda (Neil) Witbeck of Evart, Becky (Thad) Stevens of Morley, Karen (Michael) Hill of Birmingham, AL; 15 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Latham of Rodney; many nieces, nephews and close family friend, Bruce Gregory of Rodney.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Forest; 2 sons Donald and Larry Maneke; a grandson, Jeffrey Hayes, a great-great-granddaughter, Athena Rogers; 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will take place 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Thursday, May 27th at the Chippewa Lake Community Church with Pastor Roger Bennett officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the Church on Thursday (beginning at 11:00 a.m.) and also on Wednesday, May 26th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Elizabeth will be laid to rest at the Martiny Township Cemetery.
