Obituary

Elizabeth A. "Liz" Langley, age 70 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 in New Port Richey, Florida. She was born December 11, 1937 in Muskegon to Earl and Louise (Martin) Crandall. Liz married Tom Langley on October 27, 1956 in Walkerville. They made their home in Big Rapids where Tom was finishing his college education at Ferris Institute and Liz worked as a nurse's aid at Mecosta County General Hospital. After Tom finished college they moved to Grand Rapids where Liz attended Grand Rapids Junior College and earned her degree in Nursing. Their next move was to Greenville, where they lived for 13 years and Liz worked at the Greenville Hospital. Tom took a position at Ferris State College and in 1975 they moved the family to Big Rapids. Liz was employed at Mecosta County General Hospital until her retirement in 1997. Following retirement, Tom and Liz wintered in New Port Richey, Florida. Liz is survived by her loving family including her husband Tom of Big Rapids,2 Children; Brian Langley of Rockford and Susan Langley of Big Rapids, 2 brothers; Edward (Lynda) Crandall of Inman, SC and John (Pat) Crandall of Hesperia a sister; Frances (Leo) Walker of Allegan and many nieces and nephews. Liz was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. A memorial service will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Virginia L. Heller officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Saturday. Memorial contributions in Liz's name may be made to the Mecosta County General Hospital Foundation, Home Hospice or the Saladin Shrine Foundation for Children.
