Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Brown, age 77 of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, November 25, 2016, while visiting her sister and family in Michigan for the holidays. Liz was born September 7, 1939 in Alma, MI, the daughter of Al and Mildred (McKinley) Peets. She graduated from Midland High School; earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and a Masters Degree from Central Michigan University. Liz worked as an elementary teacher and a reading specialist.
She was active in the Punta Gorda First United Methodist Church where she hosted the Pathfinders Bible Study Group for many years. She will be remembered as an avid quilter, donating hundreds of her quilts to the AMIKids Crossroads, a residential foster home for boys.
Liz is survived by her twin sister, Mildred M. Gillies of Big Rapids; children, Roger W. Brown Jr. of MI, Susan B. Brown of MI, John G. (Linda) Brown of FL, Laura L. (Rafael) Delgado of IL, Tom (Veronica) Oliver of LA, Tara A. (Patrick) Sellers of MI; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roger W. Brown in 2008.
Memorial services will take place on 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7th at the Punta Gorda First United Methodist Church.
