Eleanor I. Erickson, age 88 of Morley, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born November 10, 1921 in Austin Township, Mecosta County to Durward and Effie (Peavey) Stout. Eleanor was a lifetime resident of Mecosta County. She drove school bus for the Morley-Stanwood School District for 16 years. Eleanor liked to fish every summer at Lake Independence in Big Bay. She had spent her winters in Zephyrhills, FL for nearly 17 years. Eleanor is survived by her son, Gordon (Alice) Brockway of Morley; 4 grandchildren, Brett (Tina Decker) Brockway of Stanwood, John A. Brockway Sr. of Morley, Tina (Lee) Goodfellow of Stanwood, Greg (Stacey) Brockway of Morley; 4 great-grandchildren, John A. Brockway Jr., Nichelle Brockway, Nick and Noah Goodfellow; a sister Winifred Rushmore of Morley; a brother, Arnold Stout of Remus; 3 step-sons, Glenn Erickson of Texas, Alan Erickson and Ronald Erickson both of Nebraska; a step-daughter, Linda Murphy of Michigan; several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mildred Stout and 2 brothers, Carol and Gordon Stout. Funeral services will take place 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21st at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Dr. DeWayne Coxon officiating. Burial will be at Higbee Cemetery near Morley. The family will greet friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Eleanor's name may be made to either the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood or In-House Hospice in Grand Rapids.
