Eleanor Belle Burden (ne Derby) of Morley, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2024, just one day after celebrating her 91st birthday. Born on October 4th, 1933, in Mecosta Township, Eleanor spent her life in Mecosta County, becoming a beloved member of the community and a pillar of her family.
Although she has worked various jobs throughout her life, Eleanors primary focus has always been family. She dedicated herself to raising her children with love, strength, and a firm hand when needed. Known for her quick wit and no-nonsense attitude, she ensured her family knew how much they were lovedeven when that meant giving them a gentle kick in the right direction.
Eleanor found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved fishing, playing bingo, and taking trips to the casino, where her luck and lively spirit often made her the center of attention. She will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor, unwavering support, and ability to keep everyone around her on their toes.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fitch Richer Burden Jr., and now joins him in eternal rest. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children: Michael Burden, Tim Burden, Brenda Burden, Linda Deiss, Melanie Goggins, and Kim Warren. Her legacy also lives on through her 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory.
Eleanors family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life and share fond memories during the upcoming memorial service On Friday, October 11th, 2024, at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home located at 13985 Northland Drive Big Rapids, MI 49307 at noon services will start at 1 pm, graveside service at Aetna Township cemetery and a luncheon at the American legion in Morley to follow.

The Comfort Home is a non-profit 501c3 organization that believes in a world where no one dies alone. They serve the residents of Lake, Mecosta, and Osceola Counties and neighboring communities to help care for the terminally ill at the end of life. They are an extension of the family that offers a home to live in during a persons final days and provides around-the-clock care, comfort, and quality of life with respect and dignity.
