Eldon A. McNeilly, age 79 of Sears, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2014 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Sears, MI on July 26, 1934 to Arthur C. and Lorena I. (Williams) McNeilly. Eldon graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1952 and married Kay McNeilly in Barryton on November 28, 1953. Eldon and Kay have resided in Sears on the McNeilly family farm since 1971 when they purchased it from Eldon's dad. They have continued to farm until the present day. When the children were younger Eldon was active in 4-H and as a Boy Scout Master. Eldon had various jobs throughout his life which led to his well-rounded character. Some include: foundry work, Culligan, Caretaking at Wright's Campground, working alongside Kay at McNeilly's Market, a store they owned in Barryton in the 1960's, and as a truck driver at DeWitt Motor Freight in Evart. Eldon and Kay looked forward to wintering in Arizona and missed last two winters there due to declining health. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with the grandkids that he treasured spending time with. Eldon was formerly active in the Barryton Rod and Gun Club. Eldon is survived by the family he adored; children, Deborah (James) Campbell of Ann Arbor, Melody (Dale) Kesler of Edwardsburg, Rose (Michael) Simon of Big Rapids, Kevin McNeilly of Sears, Jeff (Patti) McNeilly of Sears, Lorrie McNeilly of Weidman and Trudy (Terry) Vogel of Sears; sisters, Lavonne (Lynn) Adams, Louise (Gene) Brigner, Sharon (Darwin) Helmer, and Mary (Arlo) Bentley; sisters and brother-in-law, Imogene McNeilly, Aletha McNeilly, Bonnie Hyder and Carol (Bruce) Navarre; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Eldon was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Kay McNeilly, his parents, one granddaughter, Elyse; a great-granddaughter, Shae; 2 brothers, Louis McNeilly, Charles McNeilly; one sister, Margaret (Larry) Bronson; and one brother-in-law, Clifford (Jo) Jones. Visitation will take place Monday evening, July7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sears Church of God. In Eldon's memory donations can be made to the Sears Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Sears Church of God (Corner of US 10 and 40th Ave.) where Eldon was a member. Interment will be at East Fork Cemetery in Barryton.
