Elaine M. Lee age 90 of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at her home. Elaine was born on May 20, 1932 to Edgar and Katy (Ryckman) Reed in Mount Pleasant. As a child the family moved to Marion and while attending school Elaine met Max Lee. She graduated from Marion High School in 1950 and married Max on October 14 that same year. Max was drafted by the United States Army and the young couple moved to Temple, Texas Military Housing where Elaine gave birth to their first child. Following Maxs discharge they moved back to Michigan and eventually settled in Stanwood where they have lived for over 50 years. Elaine was a beautician and she established her own beauty salon in both Rogers Heights and Stanwood. She was also a busy mother to 6 children while faithfully supporting her husband as he pastored the Stanwood Church of Christ. Elaine continued her education at Ferris State University, where she earned a Bachelors degree. Following their retirement, Elaine and Max enjoyed traveling, not only in the United States but Europe, Asia, Japan, Germany and South Korea. Elaine had a passion for gardening, especially herbs and Flowers. She liked watching and caring for her many yard birds. Elaine is survived by her husband, Pastor Max E. Lee of Stanwood; children Vern M. Lee of Sparta, Kathy E. (Ron) Bush of Howell, Brenda J. (Duane) Compton of Sherman, TX, Gail R. (Chris) Morris of Belton, MO, Curtis O. Lee of Sparta; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Terry V. and Dave Bowmaster and a granddaughter, Merre Edith Bowmaster. A Celebration of Elaines Life will take place Wednesday, July 6th at the Stanwood Buffalo Eagles 4360, 7200 Stanwood Drive, Stanwood, MI. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a luncheon being served at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Memorial contributions in Elaines memory may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
