Elaine Joy Bergeon, age 87 of Canadian Lakes, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 13, 2009. She was born October 30, 1921 in Royal Oak, MI the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Shannon) Ross. Elaine made her home in Royal Oak where she worked as a customer service representative for Michigan Bell Telephone. Her employment with Michigan Bell brought her to the Big Rapids area over 25 years ago. Elaine was an active member of the Canadian Lakes community where her social skills flourished into lasting friendships. At Canadian Lakes, Elaine was a member of the Garden Club, she was a library volunteer, she excelled in bridge tournaments, and she was in the knitting club; donating most of her handmade creations as gifts to those who really needed and appreciated her talent. Elaine was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church near Mecosta. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Timothy) Fell of Clarkston; her son, Eric (Denise) Hartrick of Wilmington, DE; three grandchildren, Marilyn Hartrick of Sterling Heights, Shannon (Timothy) Veihl and Colleen Fell all of Rochester, MI; a sister, Carol Jean White of Carey, NC, many nieces, nephews and her many supportive and loving friends of Canadian Lakes. Besides her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Ross E. Bergeon Jr. on March 14, 2002. A memorial celebration honoring Elaine's life will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 7296 9 Mile Road, Mecosta with Pastor Victor Charnley officiating. Those wishing to give a memorial contribution in Elaine's memory may do so to the Canadian Lakes Association Fund, God's Helping Hand or the Meijer Heart Center.
