Eino A. Leppiaho, age 85 of Hersey, passed away Tuesday, March 02, 2010. He was born February 27, 1925 in Crystal Falls, MI the son of John and Hilma (Norback) Leppiaho. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army Air Force serving during World War II in the Asiatic "" Pacific Theater. Eino was a member of American Legion Post #98 of Big Rapids and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was a mechanical engineer for over thirty years , retiring in 1983 from the Ford Motor Company. He is survived by his wife Olive of Hersey, 3 daughters, Beverly Siersma of Farmington Hills, Seri (Marty) Essary of Dallas, Texas, Beth Jean (Jack) Lochrie of Farmington Hills; 6 grandchildren, John, Richard, Erik, Jeff, Patrick, and Kelly; 2 sisters, Ailii Halls of Crystal Falls, Helia Battistella of Alpha, MI and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Eino was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Toivo Aho, Emil, Martin, Wayno, Vilho and Arvid Leppiaho and 4 sisters, Impii Lukkarila, Lillian Calagan, Bertha King and Lila Blank. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Rev. Alan Maki officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Spring interment will be at Donaldson Cemetery in Sault St. Marie. Memorial contributions in Eino's name may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
