Edith M. Hammink, 90 of Weidman, passed away peacefully Tues., Jan. 31st at Crestwood Assisted Living with her family by her side. She was born May 28, 1926 in Broomfield Township, Isabella County, the daughter of Clair and Grace (Swan) Morey. Edith married Victor H. Hammink on January 24, 1975. She was employed by the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center from 1960-1985.
Edith was talented at crocheting; making baby afghans for every grandchild and as many great-grandchildren as she could. She and Vic loved to dance and she cherished the times her family spent together.
Edith will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her three children, Jerry (Mary) Smith of Ada, Richard (Karin) Smith of Remus, and Barbara (Phillip) Jennings of Mt. Pleasant; ten grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Morey of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Victor Hammink in December of 2004; daughter-in-law, Jean Smith; grandson, Scott Jennings; three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will take place 1pm Sat., Feb. 4, 2017 at the Daggett Funeral Home in BARRYTON with Pastor Dean Willard officiating. The family will greet friends from 5-8pm Fri., Feb. 3rd at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ediths name to Mid-Michigan Home Care Hospice Program.
