Eddy "Don" Donald Strong, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2008 at MCMC. He was born September 14, 1918 in Edmore, MI to Orville and Clara (Danhoff)Strong. Eddy graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School and he enlisted in the United States Army on March 27, 1942. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on Jan. 27, 1946. Eddy married Mary E. Craw in St. Johns on December 18, 1948 and together they made their home and raised their family in Ada. In 1980 he retired from Michigan Wheel in Grand Rapids. They moved to their current home on 17 Mile Road between Remus and Barryton in 1984. He was a member of the Chippewa Hills Assembly of God in Remus. Eddy was preceded in death by his parents. Eddy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary of Big Rapids, three sons: Patrick (Robin) of Rockford, Preston (Dee) of Remus, Phil (Amy) of Barryton, Nine grandchildren; Abel, Zachary, Sean, Katie, Kyle, Clayton, Seth and Isaac and Cathy, one great granddaughter Anna Noel and his church family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Mr. Strong will be held on 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 8th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Norman Hall officiating. Memorial contributions in Eddy's name may be left at the funeral home.
