Obituary

Earlaine K. Brantman, age 63 of Stanwood, passed away, Tuesday, August 9, 2016. She was born September 25, 1952 in Reed City, the daughter of Earl and Lorrene (Youngs) Hoffman. Earlaine graduated from Reed City High School in 1971. She married Chuck on August 5, 1972 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City and together they raised their family in Stanwood. Earlaine was employed by Ferris State University as a custodian for 18 years before she retired in September of 2014. She volunteered at the Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital the past year and was known as the "cookie lady". Earlaine enjoyed boating and riding motorcycles. She and Chuck traveled through 48 states on their motorcycles; some of the trips were along with her parents. Earlaine loved her family and her granddaughter. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Chuck Brantman of Stanwood; two children, Dustie (Tony) Kropf of Rockford and Jamie Brantman of Big Rapids; granddaughter, Kaiya Kropf; three sisters, Arlene (Andy) Haiduck of Cleveland, Ohio, Cheryl (Gary) Nurmikko of Kent City, and Shelly (Neal) Wekenman of Reed City; and many nieces and nephews. Earlaine was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Lila Karrip. Cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time.
