Earl R. Haney, age 81 of Reed City, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He was born June 21, 1940, in Lansing, the son of Roland and Frances (Smith) Haney. Earl was a 1957 graduate of Barryton High School. He married Dianne Little on October 31, 1959, in Barryton and together they raised their family in Reed City. Earl owned and operated an excavating company, Haney Contracting, before he began his career with Michigan Consolidated Gas Company as a General Contractor. Earl retired in 2002 as an Oil and Gas Consultant for his business, Roze Energy.
He looked forward to being outside; cutting wood, fishing, and hunting with his grandsons. Earl was also a talented cook. He was a caring man that loved spending time with his family.
Earl is survived by his wife 62 years, Dianne Haney of Reed City; three children, Richard (Cheryl) Haney of Arnold, Jane (Joe) Belland of Ludington, and Patrick Haney Reed City; 11 grandchildren, Peter, Tim, Joe, Shane, and Ricky, Jacob, Emily, Christopher, and MaryJane, Myles and Monica; 18 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Wini Oathout of Florida, Rola Langell of Big Rapids, Marshall (Suzanne) Haney of Grand Ledge, and Trena (Will) DeYoung of Tustin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William Haney.
A Celebration of Earls Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Camp Albright and Event Center, 3156 S 190th Avenue, Reed City, MI 49677. There are cabins available, please call for reservations - 231-832-9094.
