Dylan Levi Marek of Stanwood passed away on October 1, 2025 at the age of 17. He was born on November 1, 2007 to Casey and Anneke (Veenstra)Marek in Grand Rapids.

Dylan was a joy to the people who were privileged to know him. He was a devout Christian who attended The Woods Church and was proud to have been baptized this summer. He enjoyed fishing, basketball, spending time with his family and friends, learning about various topics, coding with Python, collecting coins and self-education by reading many non-fiction books. His intelligence was remarkable. He had a gentle disposition and was a very hard worker. He was ambitious and motivated to be the best version of himself each and every day. His legacy lives on in the hearts he touched.

Dylan is survived by his brother Casey (C.J.),sister MacKenna, grandmother Joyce Marek, grandfather Curt Veenstra, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Casey and Anneke Marek, his grandmother Annie Veenstra, and his grandfather Frank (Bill) Marek.

The family will greet friends and relatives at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes of Big Rapids on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at The Morley Stanwood High School with Visitation one hour prior beginning at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Woods Free Methodist Church or to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
