Duane Paul Miles, age 74, formerly of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2016 at his home in Barryton. He was born on June 4, 1942 in Pontiac the son of Robert and Dorothy (Hudson) Miles. Duane graduated from Avondale High School in 1961. After graduation he entered the United States Army and was also in the reserves. Duane gained employment at General Motors and retired in 1991 as a parts inspector. He married Virginia Gelow on October 13, 1983 in Waterford where they made their home before moving to Barryton in the early 90s. Duane was good to everyone, enjoyed wood working and cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia; children, Kathleen (Bruce) Heline of Lapeer, Chip (Laurie) Miles of Leonard, Patti Miles-Miller of Mt. Morris; five stepchildren, Linda Ewer of SantaFe, NM, Rick (Debbie) Voltmer of Holly, Bruce (Pam) Voltmer of Royal Oak, Terri OHearn of Barryton and Jodi (Tom) Murdock of Ogden, UT; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and endeared friends who will continue to treasure and hold the memories they have close to their hearts. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; step-children, Rod Voltmer and Jacki Biskner; and sister Gaitha (Vern) Feeney. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Community Bible Church (1888 Crescent Lake Rd.) in Waterford.
