Douglas "Doug" DeMott, age 81, died peacefully, Monday, August 7, 2023 at his home in Stanwood. He was born March 13, 1942 in Lakeview, the son of Harry and Charlotte (Huffman) DeMott. Doug belonged to the Jehovah Witness Congregation of Big Rapids for several years. He enjoyed being outdoors, tending his garden, camping across Michigan, hunting, and working on his hobby farm. Doug loved to take day trips wherever the road led him with his beloved dog, Buddy. He like to read and keep up with the daily news. Doug was a lifelong member of the Local 174 Pipefitters. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Doug will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his children, Teri DeMott of Stanwood, Ron (Kathy) DeMott of Mecosta, Dave DeMott of Stanwood; granddaughter, Samantha Miller; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and cherished dog, Buddy. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, Joyce DeMott; and twelve older siblings. A memorial service is being planned at a later date.
