Douglas Wayne Ames age 68, passed away on Friday May 3, 2024 in Big Rapids. He was born on April 27, 1956 in Belding, Michigan. Son of Edmund and Joy (Stephens) Ames, Douglas was a Believer in Christ. He was known for being a jack of all trades and enjoyed most of his working life as a mechanic. Douglas enjoyed hunting, and fishing. An avid lover of nature, he could always be found outdoors. Douglas especially loved mushroom hunting. He adored spending time with his loved ones and will be remembered as a family man. Douglas is survived by two of his children Joy and Eddie; sister Robin; his nine grandchildren, Sasha, Kristy, Rose, Corey, TJ, Cherry, Julie, Kayla, and Jaydon; 21 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Natasha Ann; and infant brother Patrick. The family asks that memorial contributions be donated to the funeral home to help with Douglas final arrangements.
