Dorothy Esther Tice, age 88 of Barryton went to be with the Lord, Tuesday January 30, 2007 at her daughter's home. She was born January 6, 1919 in Barryton to Edgar and Cynthia (Squires) Chapman. Dorothy married Dudley V. Tice Jr. Feb. 7, 1937 in Barryton. Together they owned and operated Tice's Barred Rock Farm & Hatchery for years. Dorothy was a cook at the Barryton Rural Agricultural School, she loved to bake cookies and share them with others. At the age of 54 Dorothy went back to school and got her LPN. She was actively involved with the Barryton Church of Christ playing the piano and the organ since she was 9. Dorothy was known to many as the town historian. She dedicated numerous hours to the Barryton Historical Museum and to many people who needed genealogy information. Dorothy is survived by two children: Robert Tice of St. Charles, and Nancy (Paul) Martin of Barryton. Grandchildren Kraig (Cathleen) Martin and their family; Shaunda, Joseph, Tabitha, Crystal, Mackenzie, Linda, Olivia, Christine, Thomas and Baylor and Duane (Tina) Martin and their family; Tyler, Brent and Caleb. The great grandchildren affectionately knew her as Grandma T. Besides her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dudley on May 12, 1972 and daughter Joyce Tice in 2006. Funeral services will take place Friday, 1:00 p.m. at the Barryton Church of Christ with the family greeting friends two hours prior from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers it was Dorothy's request memorial donations be given to the Barryton Church of Christ to further God's work.
