Obituary

Dorothy Alice Seaman, age 81 formerly of Paris, passed away February 22, 2012. She was born August 28, 1930 in Home Township of Newaygo County, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Curtice) Thomas. Dorothy married Ellis F. Seaman on February 8, 1947; they had 52 years together. Dorothy was a member of the AmVets Post # 1941 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post #98 Ladies Auxiliary both of Big Rapids. She retired from Ferris State University in 1990 with 28 years of faithful service. Dorothy was an avid Skip-bo player and enjoyed planting and taking care of her flowers. She attended the United Methodist Church in Paris, MI until moving to Mackinaw City in 2008 and then Dorothy attended the Agape Lighthouse Church. Dorothy loved people and helped many throughout the years. She will be greatly missed by her beloved family including her children, Ellis F. Jr. (Charlene) Seaman of Evart, Nancy (Rodney) Wood of Mackinaw City; a brother, Robert E. Thomas of Greenville, MI; a sister, Mary Jo (Randy) VonFeldt of Staford, Texas; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ellis; four brothers and three sisters. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to Vitalcare Hospice House in Cheboygan, MI.
