Dorothy Marie Bychinsky passed away on August 2, 2012 at the age of 95. Formerly of Big Rapids, Michigan , she was a resident of Covered Bridge Health Care Center in Seymour , Indiana . Born in Hastings , Michigan on January 27, 1917 , she was the daughter of Dr. DeWitt C. and Helen Brooks Adams. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's degree in Art Education. She married S. Eugene Bychinsky on October 3, 1943. She taught Art for nine years in public and private schools. An active volunteer, she held leadership positions as Regent of the Mecosta County Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, President of the Indianapolis Alumnae of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, the Herron Art Museum Alliance, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, University of Michigan Alumnae of Indianapolis, March of Dimes, United Fund of Indianapolis, Meals on Wheels, Big Rapids Garden Club and the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband, S. Eugene Bychinsky, sisters Margaret O'Malley and Genevieve Pinch, brother Charles S. Adams and grandson William Arthur Eugene Hadley. She is survived by three daughters, Dottie Hadley of Greenwood, Indiana, Peggy (Mrs. Jeff) Idlewine of Columbus, Indiana and Sally (Mrs. Mark) Stodola of Mundelein, Illinois, five grandchildren, Michael Eugene Idlewine, Heather Marie McGowan (Mrs. James), Michael David Stodola, John Alexander Idlewine, and Jeffrey William Stodola and 2 great grandchildren, Sophia Lynn Idlewine and Tyler Joseph Stodola. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 11:00 a.m. at the Daggett Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids, Michigan , officiated by the Rev. Rebecca Morrison of the First United Methodist Church . Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m on Saturday before the service. Burial will be in Highland View Cemetery, Big Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in Big Rapids.
