Dorothy Mae Beemer age 86, of Canadian Lakes, passed away July 21, 2008. She was born January 11, 1922 in Toronto, Canada to Frank and Mae (Isard) Maxwell. Dorothy married Ronald Beemer on October 7, 1944 in Toronto. They spent most of their married life living in both North Carolina and Michigan. For the last seven years they have lived permanently at Canadian Lakes where she loved hosting the whole "gang" for good food and laughter. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Ronald 2 daughters, Kathryn (Jerry) Newhouse of Alpena Karen (Pat) Geiger of Grand Rapids Five grandchildren, Kristyn (Paul) Wills, Kevin Newhouse, P.J. (Amy) Geiger, Lindsay (Kipp) Donlon and Kara Beemer Three great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Ellyana and Jayson Wills A brother, Charles (Bette) Maxwell of Ajax, Ontario A sister, Betty Jarman of Don Mills, Ontario many nieces and nephews; especially Norma Jean and Cos Sgambelluri. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Keith Russell Beemer on June 25, 2008 and a sister Jean Jolliffe. Cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends one hour prior to a memorial service which will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Hospice Chaplin Wayne Shidler officiating.
