On November 28, 2025, Doris Cook McReynolds passed away at the age of 90 years plus 3 months. Doris was born August 23, 1935 to Richard "Pudge" and Isadore "Izzy" (Sirrine) Cook. She grew up on a farm in Paw Paw, Michigan. She told many stories of the fun times she and her two sisters, Donna and Darlene had.
Doris went to college at Michigan State College/University. She graduated from both with two Master's degrees. While at Michigan State, she met and married Malcolm McReynolds.
Doris and Malcolm later moved to Big Rapids, Michigan where both worked as teachers at Ferris State College. Big Rapids is where they raised their family. Later in life, Doris spent time in Kentwood, Michigan. There, she joined an exercise class where she made many good friends.
Doris was a very intelligent, caring, witty person. She was also known to occasionally be quite feisty! Doris enjoyed travelling, knitting, sewing, doing arts and crafts, and caring for the children in her life. She was a nature lover, food lover, and animal lover. She had many pets over the years, and she liked to feed the birds and squirrels.
Doris is survived by two children, Kevin (wife Laura) and Nadine (husband William); two sisters Donna and Darlene; five grandchildren, Malcolm (wife Tara), Leighann, Jeremiah, Jamaal (friend Hannah), and Avery (friend Emy); also Anessa (husband Jimmy); one great grandchild, Nova; her brother-in-law Wayne McReynolds; sister-in-law Beverly McReynolds; also Amari, Maleigha, Mora; her college friend Mary Lou; several nephews; many other friends and relatives, and her little dog Loki.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband Malcolm, her parents Richard and Isadore Cook, her son Bryan, her brother-in-law Thomas Staggs, sister-in-law Priscilla McReynolds, and brother-in-law Laurent McReynolds. Doris was very loved. She will be greatly missed.
