Donna Mae Voelker, age 90 of Big Rapids, went to be with her Savior on Friday, August 5, 2016. She was born May 3, 1926 in Hersey, Michigan, the daughter of Dan and Ruth (Thiel) Sengelaub. Donna graduated from Reed City High School. She married John S. Voelker in 1951. Donna was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone prior to starting their family. Her joy in life and greatest accomplishment was being a homemaker and mother to her family of five children. Together, Donna and John traveled the United States, Germany, Jamaica, and South America. She was a faithful and active member of the Big Rapids First Baptist Church; serving as Deaconess and Flower Chairman. Donna also belonged to an Extension Group for many years. She had a wonderful group of friends that met every week for coffee or lunch. Donna enjoyed taking care of the yard and her flowers. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends. Donna is survived by her five children, Bill (Kerry) Voelker, Steve (Sheral) Voelker, Mary (Mike) Davison, Tim (Jeanette) Voelker, and Joe (Lisa) Voelker; ten grandchildren, Jeff, Megan, Sherra, Michael, Sandon, Erica, Eric, Kyle, Lauren, and Brooke; two great-grandchildren, Braden and Benjamin; brother, Wayne (Marilyn) Sengelaub; sister, Maxine Bloom; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Voelker, brother-in-law Bill Bloom, and brother and sister-in-law Charles and Helen Massey. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Big Rapids First Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church.
