Donna Marie Thren, 85, passed away on February 20, 2021, peacefully at her home. She was born on May 21, 1935, the daughter of Leo and Vada (Chaffee) Gatehouse. A life-long resident of Weidman, Donna married Duane Thren in 1957. An avid crafter, Donna tried her hand at candle making, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, and too many other things to list. She was a hard-working, devoted mother and grandmother, and she was famous for making delicious and huge amounts of food for her large brood (especially the bacon topped baked beans!) Everyone was welcome in the Thren household, and many friends and family enjoyed spending time in the chaos. Donna, along with her husband and son Keith, operated the Isabella County Landfill. After the landfill closed, she worked in the catalog department at JC Penny in Mt. Pleasant. She finished her career in the payroll department at Randell Manufacturing. She is survived by her children Kimberlee, Kevin, Kerry, and Kelly Thren (Eric Donnelly), Kristie (Jay) Bransom, Kasey (Michelle) Thren, daughter-in-law Diana Thren, and brother-in-law Tim McGuirk. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, a son Keith Thren, a sister Vickie McGuirk, her daughter-in-law Cindy Thren, and father and mother-in-law, Carl and Marie (Packard) Thren. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a memorial service in the spring.
