Donna Marian Dague, age 87, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Clare. She was born on November 7, 1922 in Coldwater Twp., Isabella Co., MI to John and Marian (Chapman) Cummings. Donna graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1940 as salutatorian. She attended Lansing Business College and on January 14, 1943 she married H. Stuart Dague in Coldwater Twp. Donna followed Stuart to several army bases and later returned to Coldwater Twp. to raise their family. Donna was a liberated woman before her time. She obtained her bachelors and masters degree from CMU while raising her children and helping with the farm operations. Donna taught math and later became a counselor at Chippewa Hills High School where she retired. She will be remembered for her quick wit and brown eyes. Donna had many passions including: reading, religion and politics- where she never lacked for an opinion, watching the Detroit Tigers & Pistons, was a master quilt maker and loved to snap the cards when she was winning at Euchre. She enjoyed traveling with Stuart and her favorite place to visit was the Maritime Provinces in Canada. Donna made everyone feel welcome at The Wellness Center in Mt. Pleasant where she eagerly demonstrated to the "young ones" how to exercise. Donna is survived by her adoring husband of 67 years Stuart of Lake, children: James (Nancy) Dague of Lake, Gloria (Gerald) Kilian of Rapid River, Daniel (Kendra) Dague of New Port, 5 Grandchildren: Janell (Bryan) Lundy, Maureen (Jay) Peterson, Matthew Dague, William Dague and Dana Dague, 5 Great Grandchildren: Alec, Bridget & Olivia Lundy and Annika & Gabrielle Peterson, 4 Step Grandchildren: Linda (William) Miesel, Joanne Polidoro, Mary Peterson, Julie (Bradley) Simmonds, 9 Step Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Donna was preceded in death by daughter Diane M. Dague in 1987, her parents John & Marian Cummings and brothers: Harold, Ronald and John. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus with Father Michael Burt officiating. Burial will follow at Flake Cemetery in Barryton. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton and one hour (9AM "" 10AM) prior to Saturday's service at the Church.
