Donald V. Cross age 71 of Big Rapids, died peacefully Saturday, April 2, 2022 with Marie by his side. He was born July 4, 1950 in Reed City, the son of Harry and Dorothy (Seaman) Cross. Don graduated from Reed City High School in 1968 and took classes at Ferris State University. Don worked as a toolmaker for 32 years Hitachi Magnetics in Big Rapids and Edmore. In his spare time Don enjoyed hunting, gardening and making maple syrup. He was on a bowling league for several years and he liked beekeeping at his Hersey land. Don was an Eagles member for over 25 years. Don loved his daughters and sons-in-law very much and he enjoyed his grandchildren. His wife, Marie and the family will miss him very much. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marie of Big Rapids; children, Lisa (Larry) Kohn of Hersey, Tara (Cory) Lee of Chippewa Lake, Tammi Cross of Hersey; grandchildren, Jessilyn VanEss, Marisa (Eric) Kunitzer, Kaytlyn Cross, Zachary (Paytyn Schopieray) Kohn, James Lee, Connor Lee, Gregory Randall; great-grandsons, Wyatt, Henry, Kevin, Laron, Logon; sisters, Pat (Jerry) Howell, Judy (Ed) Finch, Gayle (Sparky) Brynelsen; sisters-in-law, Eileen Brady, Kay Freeland; brothers-in-law, David Allers, Richard (Kris) Schohl, Bud (Jo) Schohl; beloved aunt, Velma Seaman of Big Rapids; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Lillian Cross; step-brother, Ron Bregg, sister, Carol Allers and several relatives from his wifes family. A celebration of Dons life will be held 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the Big Rapids Eagles Aerie #2535 on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Memorial contributions in Dons name may be given to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or Spectrum Health Hospice.
