Dolores M. Waurzyniak, age 91, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City where she resided the last several years. Dolores was born on December 14, 1926 in Detroit to Zygmund and Clara (Krawczewski) Ochlyski. She married George Waurzyniak and together they raised their children in Detroit before moving to Evart and later to Big Rapids.

Dolores was a strong woman and hard worker. She was a portrait colorist at Powell Studios in Detroit and baker at Fosters Market in Evart. She loved art, drawing and photography. The family has several wonderful memories of yearly trips to several Michigan State Parks and throughout Canada. Dolores enjoyed being a member of the Emerald Lake Birthday Club for several years.

Dolores says goodbye to her beloved children, Sue Brigham of Big Rapids, Karen (Jim) Waurzyniak-Hogg of Davenport, Iowa, Paul (Jody) Waurzyniak of Big Rapids, James (Chris) Waurzyniak of Ann Arbor, Thomas (Luann) Waurzyniak of Kingsley, Eileen (Kevin) Tucker of Big Rapids and twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Dolores was welcomed by her husband George; son, Michael; grandchildren, Kathleen and Nathan and many brothers, sisters, aunties and uncles.

Per Dolores request cremation has taken place and interment will be at Highland View Cemetery this summer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Travers Pavilion Foundation, 1000 Pavilion Cr., Traverse City, MI 49684, www. gtpavilions.org/donate.
