Dolores Eichenberg, age 85 of Remus, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at her home. She was born February 17, 1932 in Big Rapids to Leo and Lenore (Campbell) Brennan. Dolores graduated from Big Rapids High School and married Arlen Eichenberg on February 27, 1954. They made their home in Remus for most of their married life. Dolores began her working career at the Roy Wernette Insurance Agency in Remus. She continued her employment through the transition to the Sweeney Holbeck Insurance Agency, where she worked until her retirement. Dolores was a member of St. Michael Parish in Remus and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Albert Schiffer Post No 2335 of Mecosta. Dolores enjoyed Friday night bingo with her friends, she bowled on a league in Remus for many years and she adored her grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, Diane Eichenberg of Remus, Shari Eichenberg of Big Rapids, Arlan Eichenberg Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Sanford of Hersey; two grandchildren, Karl (Michele) Sanford Jr. of Big Rapids, James Nowlin of Hersey; great-grandchildren, Anyia, Travis, Kaylin, Dan, Bruce; sister Ann Steig of Reed City; many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arlen D. Eichenberg on June 16, 2008 and a brother, James Brennan. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids with Father Tom Boufford officiating. Memorial contributions in Dolores name may be made to either Spectrum Hospice or St. Michael School in Remus. Arrangements are entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
