Diane Kae Hampel, 83, passed away on June 1, 2026. She was born September 21, 1942 to Wayne and Erma (Floria) McComb.

Diane could be described as a social butterfly. She loved to fix herself up, whether she was sitting at home, going out with friends around Chippewa Lake or spending time with her family. She was a fantastic grandma and the love she poured into her family will be shared for generations to come. Diane loved rock hunting for treasures along the shores of Lake Michigan, and especially her beloved huskies whom she adored. She was a strong, independent woman, and that strength is what will help her family carry on her legacy.

Diane is survived by her children, Chris (Dale) Hampel, and Shelly Sterling (Scott Taylor); grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris), Jessica (Jake), and Keven Taylor; great grandchildren, Oliviah, Kayson, Jase, and Bentley; sister, Linda Pauly; and best friend Bev Adams.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Diane's life will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family will also greet friends and family the evening prior at the funeral home on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
