Obituary

Diane C. Eichenberg, age 57 entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at her home in Barryton. She was born October 28, 1951 in Clarkston to Burl and Dorothy (Macklem) Wood. Diane graduated from Clarkston High School and as a young woman moved with her family to the Barryton area. She began working at the Barryton Library and was the Librarian for over 10 years; from there she began her career at the Barryton Post Office where she was Post Master for 25 years. Diane married Roger H. Eichenberg Sr. on November 8, 1980. Together they made their home in Barryton where Diane was a devout and faithful member of the Barryton Church of God. She was active in the community through the Barryton Area Historical Society and by volunteering many hours at the annual Lilac Festival. Diane was a very proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a selfless woman that made everyone else feel better with her caring and happy manner. Diane will be forever missed by her beloved family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger H. Eichenberg Sr.; Children Katherine (Russell) Durfee of Howard City, Brenda Bone of Barryton, Karen (Mark) Hittle of Baldwin, Roger Eichenberg Jr. of Hersey, many grandchildren, one great-grandson; parents, Jay and Virginia Birchfield of Jehnsen Lake; 2 sisters, Carol (Russ) Earle of Barryton, Burlmay (Don) Chapman of Roscommon; 2 brothers, Fergie Wood and Bill Wood both of Barryton and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Besides her parents, Diane was preceded in death by a nephew, Paul Chapman. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Barryton Church of God with Pastor Gary Bryan officiating. Burial will take place at the Sherman City Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Barryton Church of God on Thursday, June 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then again on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until services at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Diane's memory may be made to the Barryton Church of God.
