Our beloved Queen Mom, Diana (Tussing) Zuchowski, died peacefully at home on December 5th. She was born on December 12, 1934 in Baldwin, MI, the daughter of George and Gertrude (Clapp) Tussing. Her first job was at Jones's Ice Cream Parlor, which she continued to visit every time she could. Having a gift for numbers, she attended Muskegon Business College and had planned a career as an accountant. However, prior to graduating, she met Byron "Moon" Zuchowski. When they were introduced she was told, "He has a good job, money in the bank, and his car is paid for" . The rest is history. They proceeded to have a family of four darling daughters, who all live in Michigan. Monica lives in Lansing, Kathy in Traverse City, Teresa in Big Rapids, and Irene (Gary) in Fruitport. She was Grandma to Nick of Philadelphia, PA; Tiffany (Jonathon) of Vera Beach, FL; Courtney of Denver, CO; Josh of Detroit; and Kaitlyn of Fruitport. She was also a Great-Grandma to Brayden and newborn, Georgia. Diana loved being a stay-at-home Mom. She filled her spare time (ha-ha) with sewing matching outfits for her girls, taking them swimming at Hungerford Lake on hot summer days, sledding with them in the winter, and playing endless games. When it was decided that the girls could be home alone and trusted not to burn the house down, Diana went to work at Kline's Department Store in 1972. This position gave her the opportunity to use her math skills. She thoroughly enjoyed the experiences it provided her and retired 20 years later in 1992. Diana was a wonderful, loving, and above all, fun Grandma. "Go-Go" Grandma, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed yard-sales, playing all sorts of games and puzzles. She spent many an hour doing crossword puzzles which kept her mind sharp. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her brother Denny, and her "sister" Kay. She also leaves her two good friends, Donna and Debbie, in addition to many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron, on August 30, 2009. Family, friends, and caregivers were touched by her "words of wisdom" . In addition, we were often brought to tears of laughter by her sense of humor and quick wit. She will be missed by all; especially her beloved cat, Mitzi. In lieu of flowers, the daughters request that donations be given in Diana's name to Dial-A-Ride, 201 North Bronson Ave., Big Rapids, MI 49307; to provide rides for people in need. Donations may also be given to the Animal Resource Coalition of Mecosta County at 18400 220th Ave., Big Rapids, MI 49307; for animal rescue. (Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.) A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Thursday, December 12th at the Big Rapids Assembly of God Church, 14200 Northland Drive, Big Rapids. In honor of Diana's bright spirit, the girls invite everyone to wear bright clothing to the service. We love you forever, Mom.
