Diana L. Shields, age 57 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 12, 2009. She was born August 7, 1952 in Lansing. She is survived by her life partner, Robin Atkins; her parents, Delbert and Yvonne Mahoney; a sister, Dee (Chris) Hartman; brothers, Patrick (Marsha) Mahoney, Jack (Linda) Mahoney, Jim (Laurie) Mahoney, Jeff Mahoney; nieces and nephews, Michelle Schwarts, Melissa Martin, Jessica, Michael A., Sara, Travis, Trevor, Andrew, Michael F. and Gabriel Mahoney and she was also loved by 8 grand nieces and nephews. Diana loved her family with all her heart and they all knew it. She loved animals and found pleasure in the simplest miracles of nature. She was the smile in every room. Diana was taken too quickly and too soon; she will be greatly missed by her loving friends and family. They can rest in the knowledge of Diana's deep and loving faith in Christ. Her family waits for their reunion with Diana and will miss their sunshine forever! A memorial gathering for Diana is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions for Diana may be made the American Cancer Society. Envelopes can be picked up at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids where arrangements were made.
