IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dewey
Bigford
July 16, 1942 – February 24, 2025
Dewey Bigford, 82, of Sears, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born on July 16, 1942, in Marion, the son of Delton and Evelyn (Murray) Bigford.
Dewey proudly served in the United States Navy and continued his dedication to service in the National Guard for over 20 years. He worked at Evart Products for more than 30 years until his retirement. His sense of duty and commitment were evident not only in his career but in the love and pride he had for his family.
Above all, Dewey cherished time spent with his grandchildren, especially when taking them fishing. Life on the water brought him great joy, and he loved seeing the smiles that came with a successful catch. He also enjoyed hunting and traveling. In his later years, his most constant companion was his beloved dog, Oreo. The two were inseparable, always side by side.
Dewey is survived by his children, Mary (Gary) Reeves, Julie (Eric) Nikirk, and Dewey (Michelle) Bigford; his grandchildren, Charles, Zach, Alex, Sarah, Andrew, Garrett, Brittney, Lindsy, and Michael; step-granddaughter, Allison; great-grandchildren, Alex, Jacob, and Faith; his sister, Clara English; his nephew, Jason Google; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jacob; and his siblings, Frank, James, and Delton Jr. "Sarg."
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Homes in Barryton. Visitation will take place from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Dewey will be laid to rest at Middle Branch Township Cemetery in Marion.
