Dennis James Snyder, 70, of Barryton, Michigan, passed away on September 3rd 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Flint, Michigan, Dennis lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, laughter, and above all, an unwavering love for his family. After a long career as a hardworking and proud member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 138, Dennis moved to Barryton to enjoy his retirement and to be near his little brother, Doug.

Dennis was the kind of man who could do just about anything. A true jack of all trades, there was very little he couldn’t fix, build, or figure out. He worked hard throughout his life, but the things that mattered most to Dennis couldn’t be measured by a job or an accomplishment. His greatest joy was his family.

Dennis shared 19 years with his wife, Mary Ann Snyder. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Dianna Howey and Sara Perdue, and a loving stepfather to MaryJane Corwin and Peter Rossi.

He was a proud grandfather to Elif Clough, Aleyna Turker, Robert Fitzugh, and Timothy Perdue, as well as his step-grandchildren, Jadalyn Rossi, Dominic Rossi, and Noel Rossi. Dennis was also blessed with three great-grandchildren. His family was truly the center of his world, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loved.

Dennis knew how to enjoy life. He loved riding his Harley, spending time outdoors fishing and hunting, and gathering with family and friends around good food. He was an excellent cook and especially loved smoking meat and grilling. For Dennis, cooking wasn’t simply about the food—it was another way he brought people together and showed them how much he cared.

Those who knew Dennis will remember his fun-loving laugh, his incredible kindness, and what his family lovingly describes as “the patience of a saint.” He was steady, dependable, and generous with his time. If something was broken, Dennis could fix it. If something needed to be built, he could build it. And if someone needed him, he was there.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Theodore and Patricia Jean Snyder; his sisters, Diane Jacobs, Doris Roper, and Joanne Sayers; and his brother, Paul “Bud” Snyder. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; his daughters, Dianna and Sara; his stepchildren, MaryJane and Peter; his grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his brother, Douglas “Doug” Snyder and his wife, Susie; and his many beloved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends who were fortunate to know and love him.

Dennis leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the lessons of a life well lived: work hard, be patient, laugh often, take care of the people you love, and always make room for family.

His laugh, his kindness, his cooking, his stories, and the comfort of knowing Dennis could somehow fix just about anything will be deeply missed. But most of all, his family will miss the man who loved them more than anything in this world.

His love will remain with them always.

In accordance with Dennis' wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Fork Township Community Center, 3265 20 Mile Rd, Barryton, MI 49305.
