Dennis Shaw, 76, of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. He was born on June 8, 1949, in Albion, the son of Woodrow and Mary (Bramble) Shaw.

On June 12, 1971, Dennis was united in marriage to his true love, Sandra "Sandy" Shorter. They met while working together at McGraw/Edison in Albion and shared more than 53 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Sandy preceded him in death on June 9, 2025. Together, they built a beautiful life and home, raising their daughter Heather and later centering their lives around their beloved grandchildren.

Dennis worked as an engineer throughout his career. With a sharp mind and natural curiosity, he was always interested in technology and learning the next new thing. This passion kept his mind active while he also enjoyed many hobbies, including all types of fast cars, hunting, music and sailboats. He loved being outdoors in his younger days—whether on the water or in the woods. His sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh was what will be remembered most.

Above all else, Dennis was the number one fan of his grandchildren. He followed them everywhere, never missing a moment of their sporting events-whether it be in person or on Game Changer or LiveBarn. If asked, he would tell you their athletic ability came from him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Heather (John) Zocco; and grandchildren, Noelle and Isaac; sister in-law, Connie Garn; his cherished nieces and nephews and many good friends he met along his journey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Shaw; his parents; and his siblings, Gerri Williams and Mary Lou Speers; brothers in-law Richard Garn, Vic Williams and Matt Spears.

In true Dennis fashion, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 P.M., with a time of sharing and reflections about him at 2:00 P.M., at Pope United Methodist Church, Springport.
