Dennis H. Love, age 72 of Chippewa Lake, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was born in Lansing on November 30, 1951, the son of Howard and Joan (Andrus) Love. Dennis was a 1969 graduate of Waverly High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Dennis married Sheryl Fyolek on October 5, 1991, and together they made their home in Chippewa Lake. Dennis was a hardworking entrepreneur. He began his working adventures by owning and operating Chippewa Lake Bar with his mom, then he was employed by Federal Screw, and later owned and operated Jets Pizza and Love Real Estate in Big Rapids. Dennis was a member of Big Rapids Eagles 2535, Chamber Ambassador for the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce, and was on the Chippewa Lake Fire Department when he was younger. He was an avid outdoorsman; snowmobiling, hunting, boating, golfing, and traveling to the U.P. Dennis enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, traveling to Mexico with Sheryl, and spending Monday nights with the boys. He loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Dennis will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sheryl Love of Chippewa Lake; three children, Zachery (Mesha) Love of Beal City, Melissa (Jason) Dusendang of Hudsonville, and Matthew Babcock Jr. of Sand Lake; 12 grandchildren, William, Kyleigh, Alesha, Colton, Mason, Gunner, Dalen, Justin, Savannah, Allysa, Taylor, and Fred; mother-in-law, Joan Fyolek of Houghton Lake; two brothers, Jeff and Larry Love; several nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and his dogs Sadie and Casey. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law John Fyolek. Funeral Services will take place 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Monday, January 15, 2024 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Roger Bennett officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. (Noon)-2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14th and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the Funeral Home. Everyone is invited to the graveside service that will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2024 at Chippewa Lake Cemetery.
