Dennis R. Greene, age 77, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at his home on Brady Lake. Denny was born on September 22, 1947, in Alma, Michigan, the son of Richard and Charlene (Gross) Greene. Denny served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Afterward, he dedicated over 30 years to Consumers Energy, where he worked as a tree-trimmer and a Hydro-Electric operator at the Rogers Heights, Hardy, and Croton Dams. He also ran a successful tree-trimming business, contributing his skills and hard work. On May 26, 2006, he married the former Linda Harris, with whom he shared many wonderful years, filled with cherished memories. Dennys favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening, and riding his Harley. He took great joy in boat rides on the lake and loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was always ready to entertain loved ones with a smile and a story. Denny was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Big Rapids, and an associate chaplain for Reach the Forgotten, a local jail ministry. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Linda Greene; son, Robert (Carol) VanderVeen; grandchildren, Samantha and Noah; stepchildren, Jeanie (John) Cain, Scott (Gloria) Creighton, and Cindy (Tonda) Creighton-Dow; several step-grandchildren; and his sister, Linda (George) Reed; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Greene. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, November 1, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 6-8:00 P.M. at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
