Dennis Eugene Gerbracht, age 68 of Barryton, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. Dennis was born on June 5, 1944 in Jackson, MN the son of Victor and Fern (Miller) Gerbracht. The family moved to MI where he was raised. On May 16, 1980 Dennis married Mary Martinson in Marion. They made their home in central Michigan and have resided in Barryton the last 24 years. Dennis looked forward to summertime and being able to put up hay. He loved his horses and watching his granddaughter Adrionna ride. For those that knew him he was a cowboy- just never willing to admit. Dennis retired from R. Bean & Son in Howard City, where he was a freight hauler. He was a kind soul who cared for his family more than they will ever know. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Mary of Barryton; children, Kenneth Victor of Barryton and his daughter Adrionna of Evart, Leslie Hope (Jake Zuker) of Mt. Pleasant, Dennis E. II of Grand Rapids, Darcy S. Meseke of Grand Rapids; siblings, Victor "Ron" (Sandy) of Wolverine, Richard "Dick" (Carol) of Hawkins, David (Sandy) of Marion, Kathy (Gary) Grawey of Alpena, Deb (Pat) Crouch of Mancelona; half-sisters, Sandy (Dick) Martin of Evart, Dawn Gerbracht of Grand Rapids, Vicky Gerbracht of Grand Rapids, Diana Chase of Reed City; sister-in-law, Violet Grantz of Reed City, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends that will continue to treasure the memories they hold. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother Jerry Grantz. A memorial gathering will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Barryton Church of God with a luncheon to follow.
