John D. Gardner "Dennis", 74, of Barryton, MI and Ocala, FL passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at his home in Barryton. Born on June 9, 1949, he was the son of John and Irene (Secore) Gardner. He graduated from Chateaugay Central School in the class of 1967. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after 21 years of service. When he retired from the U.S. Navy he opened a machine shop in Michigan, where he produced custom metal products for several years. On November 2, 1985, he was joined in marriage to Susanne Fitzgibbon. Dennis is survived by his wife, Sue of 37 years; a daughter, Michelle Gardner of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Eric Gardner and his wife, Mercedes of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Joshua, Eric, Isaiah and Elizabeth Gardner; four brothers, David Gardner and his wife, Evelyn of Summerfield, FL, Robin Gardner and his wife, Colleen of Ocala, FL, Bryon Gardner of Port Jervis, NY, Terry Gardner and his wife, Lori of Lyndonville, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father on September 4, 1998, his mother on February 5, 2013, and a brother, Randy on November 2, 2014. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Dennis final resting place will be at Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Arrangements are with the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
