Debra "Debbie" S. Crandall, age 67 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was born in Lakeview on September 21, 1955, the daughter of the late Val Jr. and Phyllis (Miles) Stokely. Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Morley Stanwood High School. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Ferris State University and graduated with honors. Debbie married Gordon Crandall on June 26, 1982 in Gaylord and they shared 32 years together until he passed away in 2015. She was employed by Kelsey Memorial Hospital in Lakeview as an RN for 30 years, retiring in 2017. Debbie was a sports enthusiast; she enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings and tennis. Debbie is survived by two sons, Kurt of Big Rapids and Walter of Rodney; one granddaughter, Aja; three siblings, Val Stokely of Big Rapids, Jeanne (Jim) Giroux of Grand Rapids, and Pete Stokely of Tustin; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Jeremy Wicks officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 3rd at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Stanwood Cemetery. Debbie loved animals and she had a special place in her heart for them.
