Dean Floria, age 83, currently of Rockford, passed away Friday August 11, 2023.He was born January 31, 1940 in Mecosta County the son of Beth (Moore) and Clair Floria. He was a lifelong resident of Mecosta County graduating from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1958 as his class salutatorian. He earned his associates degree from Ferris State University and furthered his education at Michigan State University. Dean married Carole Long in 1963 and together they made their home in Barryton. Dean farmed for many years and during the early 1970s he established Florias Farm and Home Center in Remus. Dean and Carole ran the business until their retirement in 1999.Dean was dedicated to giving back to the community and people he loved. He served for many years as the Sheridan Township Supervisor, he was on the board of Tri County Electric and served as director for Wolverine Power Marketing. Dean was also on the board of directors for the Bank of Lakeview, later known as First Bank and he worked with the Mecosta County Soil Conservation District. He loved his community, forming many cherished and enduring friendships throughout his life.He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carole of Rockford; two children, Kelly Floria of Northville, Chadd (Wendy) Floria of Rockford; three grandsons, Gage (Brie), Colby, and Garrett Floria and a great-granddaughter, Ava; also surviving are two sisters, Sharlee Soper of Remus and Dawn (Fred) Sprague of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces, nephews and many a large extended family.Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, August 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
