David M. Tassoni, age 62 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his home due to complications from cancer. He was born in Warren on October 6, 1960, the son of Dennis and Margaret (Merchant) Tassoni. Dave was a 1978 graduate of Big Rapids High School. He earned his Associate Degree in Automotive Service Technology from Ferris State University.

Dave married the love of his life, Jolene Olson on September 29, 1990, in Stanwood and together they made their home and raised their family in Big Rapids. Dave started working for his father at a young age for their family business, Dennys Muffler and Brake Shop. Ownership of the business transferred to Dave and Jolene when Denny retired in 1990.

Daves life could be defined as impactful, as he helped anyone and everyone he could. He was a devoted husband and father, a great brother and son, and a good friend. Dave was a member of St. Mary-St. Paul Catholic Community, Big Rapids Elks Lodge #974, and Big Rapids Eagles 2535. He knew how to keep himself busy whether he was working or out enjoying one of his many hobbies including: cars, golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling, snowmobiling, boating, or water skiing which he did on his 60th birthday in October! Dave always looked forward to the time he spent with his family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community. Dave is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jolene Tassoni of Big Rapids; three children, Emily (fianc Alexander Schultz) of Rockford, Michael (Melissa Ulman) of Big Rapids, and Madeline Tassoni of Big Rapids; his parents, Dennis and Margaret Tassoni of Big Rapids; two sisters, Donna Eaton of Big Rapids and Denise (Kevin) Bone of Barryton; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren at heart, Evelyn, Vivian, and Michael Miller; and many extended family and friends that are like family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Casey Francis Tassoni who passed in September 1994, paternal grandparents Corrado and Gilda Tassoni, aunts Josephine Hoin and Maria Pulcer, nephew Kevin Bone Jr., and brothers at heart Jack Turner, Alfred Drews, Rick Bishop, Mark Solis, and Dick Meyers.

Mass of the Resurrection will take place 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17th at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Dave will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids.

Memorial contributions may be made in Daves name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
