David A. Hopp, age 65, peacefully passed away on Friday February 9th, 2024 in his home. Dave was raised in Grand Rapids, one of 5 siblings born to Robert and Marian Hopp. He found his true love and married Tammie in 1983, moving up north to raise their two sons Nathan and Ryan. He was an active and inspiring father who coached youth sports, and taught table tennis and pool - alongside lifes lessons. He enjoyed horseshoes and golf with his sons and friends. He was loved by all and had lifelong friends, with humor as a trademark of his personality. He ran a sheet metal line for 27 years at Steelcase, and drove semi-truck for 17 years, logging over a million miles. When he retired, friends suggested that he drive school bus, and a new era began as Mr. Dave. He cared not only for safety, but the hearts and minds of his kids; often meeting parents to resolve problems or give praise, earning respect and admiration along the way. He was a remarkable man who made his kind, thoughtful, and considerate presence felt. No bird went hungry in the oasis of their backyard, no words with friends game unfinished, or political theatre unaddressed. Dave left us sooner than we hoped, but we know hes passed to a heavenly place and well remember him forever. Survived by his loving wife Tammie, and sons Nathan and Ryan, brothers Tom (Connie), Rob (Barb), and sister Sue (Ken Crandle). Family-in-Loves Larry (Elaine) Hollemans, Marcia (Bruce) Dandeneau, Terri (Doug) Lake, two aunts and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marian, and sister Janice Cornelisse. A celebration of Daves life will be held Sat. Feb. 17.
