Darlene Kaye Gardner, age 76 of Big Rapids, passed away June 30, 2022 in Grand Rapids. She was born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan on October 27, 1945 the daughter of Ford J. and Agnes J. (Urie) Noble. Dar moved to Baldwin at a very young age and graduated from Baldwin High School. At a young age she loved to bowl and held a high average and was the first lady in Big Rapids to bowl a 650 series. She loved to play cards and board games. She worked at many restaurants in town of which were: Casa Nova, Wayne Wortleys Brown Bungalow and Szots. She went to work in the food service (Canteen) at the Mecosta County Jail. She was there seven years and then retired. In 2000 she married LaMar Gardner who survives. Dar is survived by 3 children: Dennis (Lynn) Albachten, Kristen Horan, and Brent (Amie) Albachten; 5 grandchildren: Sarah and Michael Albachten, Jordan Horan, Madison and Anthony Albachten; siblings Russell (Virginia) Noble and Clyde (Lynda) Noble. Dar was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Ford and Eathel, brother Charles Noble, twin daughters Shelly and Sherri who died shortly after birth and a grandson, Joshua David Horan. Mass of the Resurrection will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5th and one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday, all at Church. A recording of the service may be viewed below.
