Obituary

Danny J. Blodgett, age 65 of Lake, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020. Due to COVID-19 and for the safety of Dannys family and friends, a memorial service will take place at a later date. Because the family is not allowed to have the funeral they envision to honor Danny, they are encouraging you to reach out and express your condolences, share stories, or pictures by clicking the guestbook tab at www.daggettgilbertfuneralhome.com or sending them to the family home. He was born in Lakeview on September 16, 1955, the son of Allan and Margaret (Sperry) Blodgett. Danny married Cynthia Leiter on June 28, 1975, in Weidman and together they raised their family in Lake. He began his working career in the logging industry running machinery for six years before he started his own business, Blodgett Farm and Excavating. Danny specialized in private landscaping and loved creating scenic rock walls. He enjoyed hunting deer and turkey and loved fishing. Danny took great pride in landscaping his own property; the land there was his potters clay to shape and mold into his desired form. With the unconventional tools of his machinery Danny was a renowned artist in his own right. He shared this love of his land with family and friends who enjoyed visiting to camp, gathering around a bonfire, swimming or stopping by for a chat in his pole barn. He will be greatly missed by his family. Danny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy Blodgett of Lake; three daughters, Christine (Joshua) Mills of Hudsonville, Jennifer (Matthew Sanders) Blodgett of Lake, and Yvonne (Jason) VanWormer of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren, Zoe, Lila, Erin, Gavin, and Brandon; one great-grandson, Noah; his mother, Margaret Blodgett of Goodrich; five siblings, Sherry (Duane) King of Goodrich, Larry (Sue) Blodgett of North Carolina, Dale (Sharon) Blodgett of Kentucky, Becky Pitts of Florida, and Patricia (George) Parker of Grand Blanc; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Danny left this world a wealthy man in the family he helped father and raise and the relationships he forged in his community. There will never be another who is able to embody his steel hard work ethic coupled with the gentle and compassionate spirit that shone brightly into all of our lives. Cremation and care entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Pending Sunday, December 20, 2020
